A bit of media attention is nice but the current amount of media interest is pretty overwhelming. The city council has come to the conclusion that JR's photos are illegal advertising. We were told to remove the posters within 2 weeks or pay a 15.000 Euro fine! A press release was written, which was picked up by all papers (Volkskrant, NRC, Parool, AD, Amsterdam Weekly and De Standaard) and other media (NOS op 3, RTV NH, AT5) and days later the debate about JR's work and art in the public domain is gaining momentum."This controversy is brought to you by JR, Emile, Marco and Anneloes."
